Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley said Wednesday "everything is on the table" regarding the panel's investigation on Russia and the presidential election.

"Each one of the committees have to have the same objective," the Iowa Republican told CNN before the panel's classified meeting with special counsel Robert Mueller. "I do."

Mueller met with the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday to safeguard any possible conflicts in their investigations.

He was scheduled to meet with Grassley's panel Wednesday for similar purposes.

The Senate Intelligence Committee also is conducting its own Moscow inquiry.

"The special counsel is a very important position," Grassley told CNN's Manu Raju. "He's got his job to do. We've still got our job of oversight to do.

"We need to know where he thinks his work ends and make sure it doesn't interfere with us — and for us to make certain with him that we're going to continue to do our oversight work.

"There's some areas that I won't go into that I think he can't interfere with," Grassley continued, "probably some he'll tell us that there's some that we can't interfere with."

When Raju asked whether the Judiciary Committee would investigate possible obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump, Grassley responded: "I think everything's on the table."

After the meeting, Grassley and other committee leaders said in a statement that they had a "very productive discussion" with Mueller "to ensure each can proceed without impeding the other."
