Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer warned colleagues Tuesday "history is watching" in light of reports former FBI Director James Comey wrote a February memo saying President Donald Trump asked him to end the agency's probe of Michael Flynn.
"The country is being tested in unprecedented ways," the New York Democrat said on the Senate floor. "I say to all of my colleagues in the Senate: History is watching."
The New York Times reported Comey wrote a memo after a Feb. 14 meeting in which President Trump asked him to drop the FBI probe into Flynn.
Flynn had resigned the day before as national security adviser over questions about his disclosures about his Russian ties to Vice President Mike Pence.
Trump fired Comey last week.
