CNN Poll: Biden Leads Trump by 16 Points With Likely Voters

Fifty-seven percent of likely voters now support Joe Biden, compared to 41% who back President Donald Trump, according to a new CNN poll.

The news network said the poll, conducted by SSRS, was conducted after the first debate and mostly after Trump went public with his coronavirus battle.

Here are highlights from the poll results released on Tuesday.

  • 90% of the likely voters have made up their minds about the candidates, compared to 8% who say they might change their candidate preference.
  • 39% say they have a favorable opinion of Trump, compared to 59% who say they have an unfavorable opinion of him.
  • 52% have a favorable opinion of Biden, while 42% have an unfavorable view of him.
  • 50% say Biden would handle the economy better, compared to 48% who say Trump would.
  • 59% say Biden would handle the response to the coronavirus outbreak better, while 38% say Trump would.
  • 61% say Biden would unite the county, compared to 33% who say Trump would.
  • 58% of those people who watched the debate say Biden did the best job, compared to 27% who say Trump did.

The poll, conducted Oct. 1-4, surveyed 1,205 people. It has a margin of error among likely voters of 3.6 percentage points.
