A new CNN/ORC poll, conducted before Donald Trump's decisive win in Indiana Tuesday night, shows him entering the general election phase of his campaign 13 points behind Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The poll shows:
  • Hillary Clinton: 54 percent
  • Donald Trump: 45 percent

It's Clinton's largest lead since July. She also ranked ahead of Trump on many issues, except for the economy:Terrorism: Clinton, 50-45 percent
  • Immigration: Clinton, 51-44 percent
  • Health care: Clinton, 55-39 percent
  • Income gap: Clinton, 54-37 percent
  • Foreign policy: Clinton: 61-36 percent
  • Education: Clinton, 61-34 percent
  • Climate change: Clinton, 63-30 percent
  • Economy: Trump, 50-45
Meanwhile, the poll showed Clinton behind Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who remains in the race, by seven points, and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders is still performing better than her over the Republicans, coming in at 16 points over Trump and four points over Kasich.

The poll showed the two would be the most disliked party nominees in CNN polling dating back to 1992, with Mitt Romney netting 44 percent in April 2012 and Bill Clinton at 42 percent in April 1992:

  • Clinton, 49 percent favorable; 49 percent unfavorable;
  • Trump, 56 percent unfavorable, 41 percent favorable.

And most of those who favored either candidate said their choice is based on opposing their opponents, with 51 percent of Clinton's supporters saying they picked her to oppose Trump and 57 percent saying they picked Trump to vote against Clinton.

The poll was conducted of 1,001 adults, including 890 registered voters, between April 28-May 1 and carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
