CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday delved further into the contents of a letter from Donald Trump's doctor, and questioned whether the GOP presidential nominee has a heart problem.
Pointing to a letter from Dr. Harold Bornstein written in December, Gupta told CNN's Ashleigh Banfield on Tuesday that he didn't "even know what to make of this letter," which is written more in hyperbole than standard medical jargon.
"Whether you are a doctor or not, that degree of hyperbole and these words being used is very unusual," Gupta said. "People don't write like that. 'Strength and stamina are extraordinary.' What does that mean, exactly?"
Gupta has said much the same on several CNN programs since Trump's team began questioning the health of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
But Wednesday morning on CNN's "New Day," Gupta said, "Here you have a lot of language with not a lot of data to back it up."
He added: "They say he’s on a statin. What’s his cholesterol? You’ve indicated in some way that he has some these types of medicines he's taking — for what, exactly? Does he have a risk of heart disease?"
