CNN: White House Lawyers Researching Impeachment Procedures

White House lawyers are researching impeachment procedures in the remote chance President Donald Trump has to fight efforts to remove him from office, CNN reported Friday.

According to the news outlet, lawyers in the White House counsel's office have talked with experts during the week, and are collecting information on how the proceedings would work.

White House officials believe impeachment is all but out of the question, citing the president's backing from congressional Republicans, CNN reported. And Democrats are trying to tamp down impeachment talk as well, the Washington Times reported.

On Thursday, the New York Times reported that White House advisers and associates are urging Trump to hire an outside lawyer to help deal with a number of controversies surrounding allegations of Trump campaign ties to Russia.
