Rep. Doug Collins Wednesday night accused Democrats of being "in love with terrorists" over their criticism of President Donald Trump's action in taking out Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

The comment was made to Fox Business' Lou Dobbs after the host asked Collins about his opinion of Thursday's House vote on a resolution to restrain Trump's military actions in the wake of his actions concerning Iran.

"How venal, how vapid can one party become?" Dobbs asked Collins.

"It is just so amazing if it wasn't so sad and serious," the Georgia Republican told Dobbs.

"To have [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, I didn't think she could become more hypocritical than she was during impeachment, but surprise, surprise, she does it again and her Democrats fall right in line."

And, he added, "they're in love with terrorists. We see that. They mourn Soleimani more than they mourn our Gold Star families who suffered under Soleimani. That's a problem."

Soleimani, he added "was a terrorist" and "we took him out."

"Iran is now reeling backward," said Collins, but Pelosi wants to say "'I am not sure we did it in the right way.'"

"He should have been killed a long time ago," Collins said. "The president took him out in the proper way. Respect to the president."

Other prominent Republicans have also accused Democrats of mourning Soleimani, including former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who tweeted earlier this week, "The only ones mourning the loss of Soleimani are our Democrat leadership and Democrat Presidential candidates."

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., also accused Democrats in a tweet of "falling all over themselves equivocating about a terrorist, and writing a resolution to prevent POTUS from responding."
