Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich blasted White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci for being "more pugnacious than effective" – and advised him to "slow down and learn the business."
In a radio interview Thursday with conservative host Laura Ingraham, Gingrich warned the financier to "be a lot more careful than he has been."
The discussion starts at the 4:04-minute mark on the audio tape posted by Ingraham's show; Real Clear Politics also posted a transcript of the remarks.
"He obviously likes the limelight, he obviously likes being in the media," Gingrich said. "I would say right now he is being more pugnacious than effective.
"He ought to slow down a little bit and learn what he is doing. I think that the things he said about [White House Chief of Staff] Reince [Priebus], if he said them, where is his proof? I mean it's totally unhelpful having someone going around starting family fights in public, and if he is going to be that divisive, I'm not sure if he is going to be that useful to the president."
Gingrich added the brash New Yorker "is full of himself."
"I think he got down here from New York and he is all excited; frankly he is talking more than he is thinking," Gingrich said, advising him: "He needs to slow down and learn the business."
