Conway: Trump Keeping Gorsuch Despite Criticism

President Donald Trump is sticking by his Supreme Court nominee despite suggestion that the judge called Trump's recent attacks on the judiciary "demoralizing," White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said Thursday.

Conway was asked if Trump is reconsidering his nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, during an appearance on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.

"Of course not," she said. "The president is fully confident in the nominee."

Gorsuch reportedly told Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., that he found Trump's tweet about the "so-called judge," as Trump said, who blocked his executive order on immigration "demoralizing" and "disheartening."

"He said very specifically that they were demoralizing and disheartening and he characterized them very specifically that way," Blumenthal said of Gorsuch to CNN.

"I said they were more than disheartening and I said to him that he has an obligation to make his views clear to the American people, so they understand how abhorrent or unacceptable President Trump's attacks on the judiciary are."

Trump slammed Blumenthal, saying the senator "misrepresents" the judge's words.
