President Donald Trump's first campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, repeatedly swore at Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee during a contentious interview last month, angrily declaring he wasn't going to answer their" "f***ing question," CNN reported.
Lewandowski on Thursday defended his cursing, telling CNN that Democrats were the first to cuss during the interview, and "I felt the need to respond in kind."
"The language they used in the committee was appalling," Lewandowski told CNN. "I've never heard such language used before."
Lewandowski did not elaborate on what was said, or by whom, CNN reported.
The former campaign chief was the last witness in the House intel panel's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
He initially refused to answer the panel's questions about issues that occurred after he left the Trump campaign in June 2016 — but made the trek to Capitol Hill on March 8, declaring he'd only answer "relevant" questions.
CNN, quoting four unnamed sources, reported at that interview, Lewandowski swore at Democratic lawmakers, shouting at one point: "I'm not answering your f***ing question."
Lewandowski on Thursday denied he ever shouted at the lawmakers.
Democrats claim Lewandowski's conversational red line included the May 2017 firing of FBI Director James Comey, the White House response to revelations that Donald Trump Jr. met with Russians in Trump Tower in June 2016, and his own talks with Trump.
"I had to repeat on multiple occasions that there was no collusion, cooperation or coordination because the Democrats couldn't understand my plain English way of speaking," Lewandowski told CNN.
