Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., said Thursday he may try to block Department of Justice nominees after it was reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is clamping down on marijuana usage nationwide.
According to the Associated Press, Sessions is ending an Obama-era policy that made it easier for states to legalize marijuana for personal use. He instead would like to grant federal prosecutors the power to decide how best to enforce marijuana laws.
Gardner, whose state allows recreational use of marijuana, criticized Sessions' move in a series of tweets.
Last September, Sessions said he is opposed to the legalization of marijuana for any use, including medicinal.
"It doesn't strike me that the country would be better if it's being sold at every street corner," Sessions said.
