President Donald Trump has the time he needs to pursue all potential remedies connected with his claims against the Nov. 3 election and should be given the opportunity to present his case, Sen. Tom Cotton said Thursday.
"There is no doubt there are multiple states in which the president would have to come from behind or have a significant number of ballots disqualified," Cotton said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "I don't believe these Democrats in 2000 were telling Al Gore the week after the election that it was time to concede, and of course the Democrats in 2016 never really did concede. They immediately moved to the fake Russia collusion hoax and to try to undermine the legitimacy of the president's first term."
Meanwhile, Georgia's manual recount could also push incumbent Sen. David Perdue over the 50% he would have needed to avoid the upcoming runoff election.
"In Georgia, a candidate needs more than 50% to avoid a runoff," he said. "Sen. Perdue fell just short of it, just a few thousand votes short of it. While they conduct this manual recount for the presidential race, they will be checking the other races as well."
But whether or not that happens, it's still vital to back Perdue and Sen. Kelly Loeffler's race for the Senate, as allowing Democrats to retake the Senate would change America, said Cotton, citing comments from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY.
"I suspect most Georgians don't want to change America along the lines of Chuck Schumer's wishes," said Cotton.
