Sen. Cruz: Failure to Repeal ACA Will Cause Americans to Feel Betrayed

After the failure to pass a repeal of parts of Obamacare Thursday night, Americans are going to feel betrayed by Republicans who said they would take apart the healthcare, Sen. Ted Cruz said Friday.

"There are going to be a great many Americans who tonight feel a sense of betrayal, feel a sense of betrayal that politicians stood up and made a promise," the Texas Republican told Fox News.

"I tell you this, if you stand up and campaign and say, 'We're going to repeal Obamacare,' and you vote for Obamacare, those are not consistent . . . and the American people are entirely justified in saying 'any politician who told me that and voted the other way didn't tell me the truth,'" he added.

Cruz did not say that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was a liar for not supporting the bill, but "that's a judgment the voters of every state are going to have to make, for each and every individual politician."

"After all the chest-beating and all the victory laps of the left," Cruz said he believed Congress would fulfill the promises they made and dismantle Obamacare.
