New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wants President Donald Trump to "stop the politics."

“New York is the canary in the coal mine. You’re going to see this moving across the country,” Cuomo said to Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. “Anyone who wants to say this is New York alone, that’s a political, partisan, divisive view and it’s exactly wrong.”

Speaking on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday, Cuomo criticized the president's response to the coronavirus. Specifically, he urged Trump to help New York prepare for the high point of the pandemic, which is expected to arrive within two to four weeks.

The federal government has already sent 4,000 ventilators to New York to help patients suffering from coronavirus. Cuomo says he will use all of them until they are absolutely needed.

"What they still don't get is how to run a government, how to plan an operation," Cuomo said. "This virus has been ahead of us from day one."

As of Monday, the number of deaths in New York from coronavirus surpassed 1,000 and overall cases in the state are approaching 60,000. To treat the growing number of people Cuomo said New York would need more supplies.

“Joe, my plea is, and pardon me if I’m a little emotional, but I’m living with this 24 hours a day and seeing people die all around me,” Cuomo responded. “The science people, the government professionals have to stand up and look the president in the eye and say, this is not a political exercise. This is not press relations. It’s not optics. The tsunami is coming. We know it is.”
