Former CIA Director John Brennan is in a "world of trouble" over statements he has made concerning British spy Christopher Steele's dossier linking President Donald Trump to Russia, former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino said Monday.

"My sources on this are telling me John Brennan is in a world of trouble right now," Bongino told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

"Back in August of 2016 he gives a private briefing to Sen. Harry Reid, Democrat, of course. He gives that briefing to Reid. Reid fires off a letter to the FBI. In that letter is information that clearly came from the dossier."

That means, at that point, Brennan was aware of the dossier, but in May of 2017, under oath, he denied knowing who commissioned it, said Bongino, a frequent Fox News commentator and owner of "The Dan Bongino Show" podcast.

"The CIA has a central role in the verification of foreign assets and information we get from foreign assets," Bongino said. "It is not plausibly deniable that John Brennan did not know who commissioned that dossier he is in a world of trouble because he raised his right hand and he said the exact opposite."

Bongino's comments came in response to a question about an article by investigative reporter Paul Sperry, who writes for RealClearInvestigations that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has aimed his next investigation into Brennan and other key intelligence officials from former President Barack Obama's administration.

Sperry points out the May 2017 testimony, when Brennan denied the dossier played a large part in the intelligence community's conclusion Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential election to "help Trump's chances of victory."

Nunes is expected to release a report detailing how the Obama State Department allegedly had a role in creating the anti-Trump dossier and disseminating it. The report will also identify diplomats, appointed by Obama, who allegedly worked with operatives close to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to help Steele with the dossier.

Bongino also accused Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the top-ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee of being a "snake."

"He is the biggest fraud on Capitol Hill right now," Bongino said. "Adam Schiff is doing the Democrats' dirty work in trying to cover up."

The problem is, she continued, the "Obama team spied on the Trump team."

"The liberals have married themselves to years to this facade that they are civil liberty advocates," he said. "That's gone now. That's completely gone. They will be police state advocates from this point on.

"When the public learns the true story of the extent of the Obama team spying on the Trump team, it will decimate the liberal brand forever."
