Retired race car driver Danica Patrick told Newsmax on Friday that the public support of President-elect Donald Trump by CEOs and entertainers has shown "it's now cool to be Republican."
Patrick said Trump has managed to appeal to individuals not typically prone to voting Republican because it has become obvious to many that the country has "lost its way."
"And I think that people are just excited about getting back to some of the old ideals and ways of living that we loved and also some new, exciting ones. So I just think that the country is ready for it," Patrick said during an appearance on "Finnerty."
"I think the country is ready for honesty. Honesty is not always what you want to hear, but it's what we need."
Patrick said the cultural shift in how many people view the GOP is because "the country is waking up to the wild, crazy things that have happened over the last four years."
"I do think that it makes a big difference when people like Elon Musk support him and Joe Rogan. I think these are some really big names that have made a really big difference in people because they're names that people trust, especially when you're coming more from the left side.
"So I think all that stuff has made a difference. And it's now cool to be Republican."
