Rep. Dingell: Dems Need More Information Before Talking Trump Impeachment

(Fox News' "Special Report")

Rep. Debbie Dingell said Wednesday that lawmakers should seek more information before seeking impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

"We need to make sure that we are going in a very detailed, thorough way of getting all of the facts that we need before you ever start down that kind of path," the second-term Michigan Democrat told Mike Emanuel on Fox News.

"I think that for everybody, this election is going to be about the economy," Dingell added. "And I think the reality is Democrats are going to have a message that's going to deliver."

Last month, six House Democrats introduced five new articles of impeachment against Trump, claiming the Republican president was a danger to the nation, according to news reports.

But top party leaders have been reluctant to embrace impeachment efforts amid concerns they might backfire.

Dingell said Tuesday she was willing to work with President Trump on his infrastructure program.

"I will work with Donald Trump on anything that helps the working men and women of my district," she told Alisyn Camerota on CNN. "So, yes, I will work with him on infrastructure if he'll work with us."
