President-elect Donald Trump's meeting with a Democratic congresswoman Monday was set up by his chief strategist Steve Bannon.
According to The Hill, Bannon — who is reportedly a big fan of Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii — reached out to her and invited her to meet with Trump about a potential job within his administration.
Gabbard supported Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the presidential race before he bowed out.
"He reached out to her, not vice versa," a source told The Hill about the meeting that brought questions from all sides.
Trump has vowed to not hire any Democrats to work in his administration, but many of Gabbard's political views are in line with his. She represents the liberal 2nd district in Hawaii.
"[Bannon] loves Tulsi Gabbard. Loves her," another source told The Hill. "Wants to work with her on everything.
"She would fit perfectly too [inside the administration]. She gets the foreign policy stuff, the Islamic terrorism stuff."
CNN reported Gabbard could land a job at the Defense Department, State Department, or the United Nations.
