Senate Democrats have agreed to waive the remaining hours of debate for President Donald Trump's judicial nominees, the Washington Examiner reports.

"We can change the precedents of the Senate," Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn told the Examiner. "If [Democrats] keep abusing this 30-hour [debate] requirement, things are going to change."

Despite the threat from the GOP, Democrats only acquiesced under the threat of working through the weekend.

"We did a calculation," Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin said. "We could stay through the weekend and by Monday have the same result we are going to achieve. There was nothing to be gained by staying.

"If the majority leader is talking about a more cooperative, bipartisan arrangement, he can start by eliminating the reconciliation approach," which would allow bills to pass with a simple majority vote, hurting Democrats' ability to affect legislation while they're in the minority.

On unnamed GOP aide said that Democrats "completely caved" and confirmed two judges this week, and are expected to confirm two more judges before it's over.
