A poll commissioned by a GOP advocacy group found that Democrats lead Republicans by 5 points in a generic ballot ahead of November's midterms.
The American Action Network (AAN) on Monday distributed a memo about results of a net neutrality survey it had commissioned, which also included the following data on a generic ballot:
- 42.5 percent would vote Democrat.
- 37.5 percent would vote Republican.
According to the polling average tracked by RealClearPolitics, Democrats have an 8.5 lead over Republicans in the most recent window, Feb. 9-21.
AAN also said its survey found a 43 percent approval rating for President Donald Trump vs. 52 percent disapproval.
AAN's approval findings for Trump polled slightly above RealClearPolitics' average of 41.5 during its Feb. 9-24 tracking period.
According to the Tarrance Group, the firm who conducted the survey for AAN, responses were gathered Feb. 17-22 and the margin of error is 3.1 percent.
