The White House admitted Monday that Democrats have done a better job communicating their views on the GOP's healthcare bill than Republicans.
According to The Hill, White House legislative director Marc Short met with the media and said lawmakers from the left side of the aisle are showing better organization on the healthcare debate.
"It's a fair point that the Democrats were more organized in their messaging on the bill than Republicans," Short said.
The House passed the American Health Care Act in May and then passed it over to the Senate. Republicans in that chamber altered it, changed its name to the Better Care Reconciliation Act, and made it public last month.
No vote has been held in the Senate because the bill lacks the necessary support. Republican leaders, however, are hopeful that a vote can take place next week.
"We're just trying to get a good picture of what the alternatives are, and hopefully next week we'll be prepared to take the bill up and vote on it," Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said.
Vice President Mike Pence said Monday Republicans are "very close" to repealing and replacing the current Obamacare law.
