Ohio’s GOP Gov. Mike DeWine on Sunday praised President Donald Trump for writing executive orders to address a coronavirus stimulus that's failed so far in Congress.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said Trump is trying to “move the ball forward.”
"He's got a blunt instrument and that's the executive order,” DeWine said.
“What really needs to happen is Congress needs to get back in [session] and negotiate,” he added. “I'm confident that Congress can do something."
DeWine was non-committal on his own state’s ability to kick in $100 for every unemployed person in the state, which would garner a $300 match from the federal government..
"We're reviewing this now,” he said. “We've ... set aside a significant amount of money for [coronavirus] testing. So the answer is I don't know yet.”
DeWine, who last week tested positive for COVID-19 in a rapid test and then subsequently came up negative, hasn’t lost faith in antigen testing.
"People should not take away from my experience that testing is not reliable or it doesn't work,” adding it should be viewed as a "screening test."
