The coronavirus outbreak should not have any effect in delaying U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation into the origins of the probe into Russian collusion and President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Joe diGenova, the former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, said on Newsmax TV Monday.
"I don't have any doubts Durham is feverishly and steadfastly working," diGenova told Newsmax TV's "The Howie Carr Show" about the special prosecutor. "He is going to do his job. There may be some minor delays caused by this but I have no doubt that in due course we're going to be fine."
Further, he told Carr that he put his faith in Durham "long" ago.
"He would never have empaneled a grand jury" if he wasn't going to indict people, diGenova added. "That's a consummation to be devoutly wished for."
DiGenova also said he believes the information will be out before the November election.
"I don't think we have to worry about the election," he said. "Whatever delays are caused by the coronavirus thing will be minimal for the investigation Durham is conducting. It doesn't prevent him from taking testimony, even without a grand jury. They can take testimony without a grand jury being present. They can take statements from people. I am not worried about the process at all."
Earlier this month, unidentified sources told Fox News that the probe will likely finish by the end of this summer, based on the progress Durham has been making. However, another source said the coronavirus pandemic could delay him and keep him from wrapping up the investigation until closer to September.
