Dem Rep. Lynch Tapped to Serve on DOGE Subcommittee

By    |   Wednesday, 22 January 2025 10:10 PM EST

Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., has been tapped to serve on the Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, The Boston Herald reported.

The new House panel will work in tandem with the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency.

"As a member of the DOGE Subcommittee," Lynch posted on X, "I am dedicated to working with my Democratic colleagues to defend our hardworking federal workers from the threats of mass layoffs proposed by Vivek Ramaswamy, Elon Musk, and the Trump Administration.

"From the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at our VA hospitals, to Federal Law Enforcement personnel who protect our borders, to the Postal workers who deliver the mail, our federal workforce should be treated with respect for the important work that they do."

Joining Lynch will be Rep. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., who will serve as ranking member for the subcommittee. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., will lead the panel.

On Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization in the White House.

Ramaswamy is no longer part of the commission that Trump championed, officials confirmed hours after the Republican took office Monday, and that leaves billionaire Musk to run the cost-cutting operation alone.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
