Trump Hits California Over Border Backpedal

Trump Hits California Over Border Backpedal

By    |   Tuesday, 17 April 2018 09:38 AM EDT

President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned of higher crime rates coming for California a day after the Golden State governor decided against sending the National Guard to help out at the border.

Gov. Jerry Brown backpedaled on his pledge to comply with a federal request to send 400 troops to the border in a support role. However, a report surfaced Monday that Brown backed out, citing that any role the troops would play would be too closely linked to immigration enforcement, a no-no for Brown.

The Trump administration is planning to replace "old, dilapidated landing mats" with 14 miles of a steel bollard wall in San Diego.
