President Donald Trump again accused the Democrats of angling for a shutdown, reasserting his call for a "merit-based system of immigration" Tuesday.
Trump's tweet is the latest episode in the saga that started Thursday when Trump flatly rejected a bipartisan proposal to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, allegedly using profanities to get his point across.
Trump has tried to flip the script on Democrats ever since, accusing Democrats of "doing nothing to fix DACA" while trying to force a shutdown.
And the tweet is the polar opposite of where Trump started immigration talks last week, proposing a "bill of love" that would be the first of a two-phased immigration reform plan.
