Trump Tells Iowa Town Hall Christie Right About Haley

By    |   Wednesday, 10 January 2024 09:25 PM EST

Former President Donald Trump kicked off his town hall on Wednesday night in Des Moines talking about Chris Christie suspending his campaign, saying the big story really was the former New Jersey governor getting caught on a hot mic saying Nikki Haley was going to get "smoked" in the GOP primary.

The town hall occurred five days before Iowa’s caucuses Monday kick off the GOP primary season.

"The biggest story wasn't the fact that he dropped out," Trump told moderators Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum of Fox News. "He had a hot mic, and he was talking to somebody about the weather and happened to say [Haley] doesn't have what it takes she'll be creamed in the [primary] election.

"I know her well and happen to believe Chris Christie is right. That’s one of the few things he has been right about actually."
