President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance will deliver remarks to the annual March for Life Friday at the National Mall, the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America confirmed Thursday.
Trump, who is traveling to western North Carolina Friday to tour locations hit by Hurricane Helene, will give his address by video, while Vance will attend the gathering and speak in person, reports Politico.
The White House has confirmed Trump's remote appearance will happen at about 4:30 p.m.
March for Life, meanwhile, announced that Vance's appearance is a "sign of his commitment to standing up for life."
Outgoing March for Life President Jeanne Mancini and its President-elect, Jennie Bradley Lichter, said they are looking forward to working with the Trump administration while it dismantles "the Biden administration's aggressive and unpopular abortion agenda and once again put wins on the board for vulnerable unborn children and their mothers."
However, the Trump and Vance appearances come amidst frustration from the anti-abortion movement that none of the new president's executive orders signed this week addressed abortion.
The movement has praised some of Trump's early moves like the withdrawal from the World Health Organization, which has a record of support for abortion access, they are concerned that he has not signed restrictions on domestic and international funding for abortions.
"People are willing to give Trump a lot of grace right now, but how far will that go?” one activist, granted anonymity to speak, commented. "We're an important part of the MAGA coalition. We’re loyal foot soldiers. So the question is, how patient should we be?"
Trump in 2020 was the first sitting president to appear in person for the March for Life. This year's event will also welcome the GOP leaders of the House and Senate, for the first time in its 50-year history.
