Donald Trump Jr. Rips 'Morning Joe' Host, Calls for 9/11 Apology

By    |   Tuesday, 11 September 2018 01:05 PM EDT

Striking back at an editorial in The Washington Post by the "irrelevant and deranged" Joe Scarborough – who also made a "disgraceful" on-air claim President Donald Trump is a "far graver" threat on the "idea of America" than 9/11  – the president's eldest son called for an "apology to the 3000+ families who lost loved ones."

"Joe, you owe an apology to the 3000+ families who lost loved ones on this tragic day," Donald Trump Jr. tweeted Tuesday. "Injecting politics today is disgraceful and only shows how irrelevant and deranged you've become."

The MSNBC "Morning Joe" host echoed his editorial comments on Tuesday morning's show, which aired on the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

"Trump is harming the dream of America more than any foreign adversary ever could," Scarborough's editorial was titled Tuesday in the Post.

"For those of us still believing that Islamic extremists hate America because of the freedoms we guarantee to all people, the gravest threat Trump poses to our national security is the damage done daily to America’s image," Scarborough wrote, before concluding:

"The question for voters this fall is whether their country will move beyond this troubled chapter in history or whether they will continue supporting a politician who has done more damage to the dream of America than any foreign adversary ever could."
