Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort, former campaign manager for President Donald Trump, reached an agreement Friday with the Senate Judiciary Committee that will enable them to testify privately rather than in a public hearing as part of the committee's Russia probe.

Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and ranking member Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., released a joint statement saying, "(W)e will not issue subpoenas for them tonight requiring their presence at Wednesday's hearing but reserve the right to do so in the future," CNN reported.

The two agreed to the interviews and also to provide documents to the panel prior to any public hearing.

The committee also issued a subpoena by email Friday afternoon for Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS. Fusion GPS is the opposition research firm that compiled a now-discredited dossier on Trump during the 2016 presidential election. The firm is also involved in the Russia probe.

Simpson's attorneys said he would not voluntarily agree to testify at the panel's hearing on Wednesday.

"Glenn Simpson, through his attorney, has declined to voluntarily attend Wednesday's Judiciary Committee hearing regarding compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Therefore, a subpoena has been issued to compel his attendance. Simpson's attorney has asserted that his client will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in response to the subpoena," Grassley and Feinstein's statement said.

On Monday, the Senate Intelligence Committee will interview Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who also serves as White House senior advisor, as part of their investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. And, the House Intelligence Committee will interview Kushner on Tuesday as part of their Russia probe.
