Donald Trump Jr. echoed the condemnation of his father regarding the probe into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia — calling it "probably the greatest" witch hunt since Salem.

In an interview Friday night on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight," President Donald Trump's eldest son was asked about a classified memo that GOP lawmakers say reveals high-level government abuse surrounding the Russia investigation.

"Obviously, this has been a witch hunt, probably the greatest since the Salem witch trials," the younger Trump said of the Russia collusion probe.

"The interesting thing about it is the only collusion, the only shadiness, the only thing that has been discovered is what the prior administration, the [Democratic National Committee], and all of them have done."

Trump Jr. added the memo "sounds disturbing."

"I think we need more information," he said.

The younger Trump has become embroiled in the Russia investigations underway as a result of his June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer and other campaign officials in Trump Tower.

Emails revealed the president's son agreed to the meeting after he was told he'd received damaging information on Hillary Clinton.
