President Donald Trump told members of the media they were permitted to stay for his prayer session with Cabinet members because "you need it more than I do."
And he added: "You may be the only ones."
He then turned to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and said: "Maybe a good solid prayer and they'll be honest, Ben. Is that possible?"
Carson went on to deliver the prayer: "We thank you for the president and for Cabinet members who are courageous, who are willing to face the winds of controversy in order to provide a better future for those who come behind us."
"We're thankful for the unity in Congress that has presented an opportunity for our economy to expand so we can fight the corrosive debt that has been destroying our future. And we hope that unity will expand even beyond party lines,"
Trump did not take questions from reporters, including one about whether the tax bill would benefit him, The Hill noted.
