Donald Trump may have signaled a new direction in his presidential campaign on Thursday — but he was back to ripping Hillary Clinton on Twitter on Friday.
In North Carolina on Thursday, Trump expressed "regret" for some of his divisive language during the campaign that has offended women, Hispanics, Muslims, veterans and other groups.
"Sometimes, in the heat of debate, and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words or you say the wrong thing," Trump said at the Charlotte Convention Center. "And, believe it or not, I regret it.
"I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain," he added. "Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues."
He did not mince words, however, when it came to his Democratic opponent — and said told supporters earlier Friday in Michigan that Clinton should apologize for the "death and destruction" Trump said that she had caused while secretary of state.
"Hillary Clinton is a legacy of death, destruction and terrorism," he said in Dimondale, Mich. "America deserves a better legacy."
