Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., suggested Thursday that U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into the inception of the Russia investigation will end with criminal charges being filed, Fox News reports.
Collins, who is running for Senate and is stepping down from his ranking role on the House Judiciary Committee, said at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday that Durham's investigation will not mirror the one conducted by former special counsel Robert Mueller.
"This is not going to be a Mueller report; there won't be a report," Collins told Fox, pointing out Durham's investigators have remained "quiet" about the probe. "When he's ready to charge people, he'll charge people. And that's when we'll know."
The congressman made these remarks just after giving an address at the conference about the Russia investigation.
"Durham is investigating, Attorney General Bill Barr has expanded his reach into the intelligence community," Collins said in his presentation, noting the U.S. attorney has "grand juries" and "everything else" available to him.
Barr appointed Durham last year to conduct a review of the origins of the Russia investigation, which has since expanded to encompass the time period beginning just before the 2016 election and ending with Mueller's appointment.
