Congress needs worry more about fighting coronavirus and not on investigating President Donald Trump, according to Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., on Newsmax TV's "The Chris Salcedo Show."
"It's time for us to realize we're in this together," Rep. Doug Collins on Newsmax TV. "We need to be public servants for public service."
Collins commended Trump for his response to the coronavirus crisis, from stopping flights from China early during the pandemic to seeking advice from experts such as Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Then he strongly criticized Democratic lawmakers, like Rep. Adam Schiff, who has recently called for an independent commission to look into the federal government's reaction to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Where was Adam Schiff as chairman of the intelligence committee in December when he was getting daily reports on this issue?" "Instead of actually running his intelligence committee for the last year, he's running it as a private 'let's get the president campaign'."
Collins said Congress instead needs to investigate China for withholding information and passing along misinformation related to the origins of coronavirus.
"If there's an investigation that needs to be opened up, it needs to be into China," Collins said. "All they [Democrats] care about is defeating this president, in this year's election cycle. They'll ignore the rest of the world. They'll ignore things going on. They'll only try to focus on the president."
