Michael Bloomberg is going to inject more than just life into the Democratic primary race, he's going to pump his own money, sparing no expense to bring out Democrats and attacking incumbent President Donald Trump, according to pollster and consultant Doug Schoen.
"He anticipates both doing voter registration and also running a separate track of anti-Trump ads," Schoen told "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y.
"Americans should expect to see ads touting Mike Bloomberg and also attacking Donald Trump."
Bloomberg, who Schoen has advised in past campaigns, "has never let the cost of the campaign stand between him" and winning, Schoen told host John Catsimatidis.
"It's not like I'm sitting here saying the economy hasn't been better, but I think there's a lot more to do," Schoen said. "And to have a job-creator, a centrist, someone who brings people together, like Bloomberg, with a unique record of accomplishment, I think that makes him a distinctive and arguably bold candidate for the presidency."
Schoen has broken from Democrats on "endlessly focusing on something that will end up as a victory for Trump" – impeachment – instead advising to pursue censure and turn focus on the 2020 election, where a centrist like Bloomberg could take Republican votes from Trump, if he can win the Democratic nomination, per Schoen.
"He's focused on climate, given his role as the ambassador, the Special Representative of the [UN] Secretary General on Climate," Schoen said of the Bloomberg platform. "Guns, certainly – he has had great success passing anti-gun violence legislation in the state legislature. I would also tell him to focus on education. He was a leader in New York. He helped run a medical school and run Johns Hopkins.
"And ultimately he needs to tell the story of how he's created thousands of jobs, and what we need to do as a country to reduce income inequality."
