The Draft Joe Biden Super PAC has decided not to run an ad urging the vice president to get into the Democratic presidential race,
The Los Angeles Times reports.
The ad,
which can be seen on YouTube, features a speech made by Biden weeks before the death of his son, Beau, in May and talks about the death of his first wife and his young daughter in a car accident.
"The vice president appreciates that they are trying to help," the Times quoted a person close to the vice president as saying. "But he has seen the ad and thinks the ad treads on sacred ground and hopes they don't run it."
The ad was slated to run ahead of next week's Democratic debate on CNN.
But a spokesman for the Super PAC said itwould "honor his wishes" and not run the ad.
"Nobody has more respect for the Vice President and his family than we do," senior advisor Josh Alcorn said.
