Democrats across the country have worked to build a massive lead over Republicans in early voting ahead of the November election, especially in battleground states, according to Politico.

Politico, using analysis of absentee ballot request data collected from state election authorities and examined by experts from the Democratic and Republican Parties, found that Democrats have a three-to-one early voting advantage over the GOP in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The analysis also shows that Democrats have made more than 700,000 more absentee ballot requests than Republicans in Florida. Additionally, the number of Democrats who sat out the 2016 election and are now requesting ballots is much higher than the number of Republicans who did the same, especially in Pennsylvania, where about twice as many Democrats who did not vote in 2016 asked for a ballot.

“A ballot in is a ballot in, and no late-campaign message or event takes it out of the count,” said GOP pollster Chris Wilson. “Bottom line is that means that Biden is banking a lead in the mail and more of the risk of something going wrong late is born by Republicans because our voters haven't voted yet.”

However, the Republican National Committee dismissed the Democrats’ current advantage as a concern.

“The majority of our voters prefer to vote in-person. So, we expect to be well behind on absentee requests as Democrats have made it their mission to push for an all-mail election that brings fraud and chaos into the system. You’ll see Democrats predominantly vote by mail, and our voters will come out in droves to vote in-person,” said RNC spokesperson Mike Reed.

We expect that to be a huge difference-maker,” he added.
