With scandals and competition swirling around her, Hillary Clinton is emerging as a more aggressive presidential candidate, bestselling political writer Ed Klein tells Newsmax TV.

"We are seeing a new, more feisty Hillary in the last week or so. This is a Hillary who might feel like her back is against the wall," Klein said Thursday on "Newsmax Prime" with J.D. Hayworth.

"The emails, [Sen.] Bernie Sanders, maybe [Vice President] Joe Biden, Benghazi and suddenly she's got her gloves on and she's fighting, she's angry."

This week, the former secretary of state released a new ad slamming the GOP-led Benghazi committee as existing to damage her presidential chances. It uses Rep. Kevin McCarthy's controversial suggestion that that, in fact, is the case.

"She's going to attack the committee rather than let the committee attack her," said Klein, author of "Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary," published by Regnery.

"We should not count out Hillary Clinton. The Clintons have been in the mud many times before and emerged smelling like roses."
