Ed Rollins: Trump Beats Clinton in Soundbites on Issues

(Fox News' "Fox & Friends")

Donald Trump has had a good week when throwing punches at Hillary Clinton, the head of a super PAC backing the Republican presidential nominee said Thursday, one day after he told a radio talk show he believes Trump would lose the election if the election was held today.

"It's a new week," Ed Rollins, a former political analyst for late President Ronald Reagan, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "He has a new team in place, and I think this is one of the better weeks."

In the show segment, Rollins, who described himself as "basically a Trump supporter," compared soundbites from the candidates on the issues of Clinton's email server, her health, and on immigration, and Trump came out ahead on all three.

On Clinton's health, Rollins said that issue "may not be a legitimate issue, but if anything happens on the campaign trail, if she stumbles somewhere along the line or what have you, it reminds people she did have a serious head injury a couple of years ago. We have to have some concerns."

With immigration, Trump "laid out the fact that she wants to let everybody in," Rollins said. "To a certain extent that's not a popular position with the country. He did stumble on the issue this week. He needs one declarative statement, this is my position on immigration, and stick with it."

And on the matter of Clinton's emails and on the Clinton Foundation, Rollins said Clinton might say she and her husband, Bill, did not take a salary from the foundation, but "they basically have a net worth of over $200 million" and donors expect access for their money.
