NY Post: Trump Plans Oct. 27 Rally at Madison Square Garden

By    |   Wednesday, 09 October 2024 08:22 AM EDT

Former President Donald Trump is planning a major campaign rally at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Oct. 27, nine days before Election Day, according to a new report.

The rally is to be a first-come, first-served event and is expected to draw a huge turnout, the New York Post reported, citing unnamed sources.

A Trump campaign spokesperson confirmed that the former president is planning a rally at Madison Square Garden later this month, but did not confirm a date.

Newsmax has also reached out to MSG Entertainment for confirmation and comment. As of Wednesday morning, the arena had no events booked for Oct. 27, which falls on a Sunday, and no announcement on its website.

Trump has been drawing large crowds in other New York events, pulling in an estimated 16,000 supporters at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island in September and up to 10,000 people to Crotona Park in the Bronx this summer. The park had a permit allowance of 3,500 people.

His Madison Square Garden event would be held inside the main arena, according to the Post's sources. The section has a capacity of 19,500 people.

The venue often hosts political gatherings, having been the site of Democratic National Conventions in 1924, 1976, 1980, and 1992. The Republican National Convention was held at the arena in 2004.

Trump has said many times this year he could hold a rally at the legendary Manhattan venue as part of his push to win New York's votes in November.

"I think I'll do one maybe at Madison Square Garden," as "New York has changed a lot in the last two years," Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in February.

"People that would have never voted for me because I'm a Republican," Trump said at the time. "I think they're going to vote for me, so I think we're going to give New York a heavy shot."

He also said in April that he was planning a rally at Madison Square Garden, telling reporters during his business records trial he believed "we're signing" the arena.

"We're going to have a big rally honoring the police and honoring the firemen and everybody," Trump said then. "Honoring a lot of people, including teachers, by the way."

The Post's sources said the Trump campaign is expected to formally announce the rally Wednesday through an email to supporters.
