President Donald Trump warned Monday there will be grave consequences if Democrat nominee Joe Biden wins the November election.
"If Biden wins, China wins, because China will own this country, and hopefully you're not going to be able to find that out," Trump told reporters at the White House. "It's the most important election in their history, right now."
Trump said if he is re-elected, however, his administration will "make America into the manufacturing superpower of the world," while ending U.S. reliance on China "once and for all."
"Whether it is decoupling or putting in massive tariffs, like I've been doing already, I'm going to end our reliance on China, because we can't rely on China," Trump added. "I don't want them building a military like they are building."
Further, he said Biden has said the United States would welcome the emergence of a prosperous, integrated China that plays by the rules.
"They didn't play by the rules," he said. "The World Trade Organization, one of the reasons it is so bad is that China didn't play by the rules. We did. But their rules were easier, because they are considered a developing nation. They had a much lower standard. "
And meanwhile, China took advantage of "stupid people," and Biden "is a stupid person," Trump told the press. "You know that. You're not going to write it, but you know that. Because of Biden's economic treachery . . . 70,000 shuttered American factories, and he's talking about how wonderful it is with China. No, China has been very bad."
Trump further railed about Biden's involvement in the Paris Climate Accord, as other countries would not have had to adhere to it for several years.
"Under some scenarios, 25% of our businesses would have to close in order to qualify under this ridiculous Paris Climate Accord," he said. "It was very bad, very expensive."
