President Donald Trump is closing in on Joe Biden’s lead, according to a new poll.
The Morning Consult poll released Monday shows Biden has 45% support of voters nationwide compared to Trump, who has 42% of support from voters.
Biden has seen a 5 point net drop in his favorability since the poll was last conducted in late April.
Morning Consult attributes Biden’s drop to the media coverage of Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against Biden.
New poll results show:
- 43% of voters said they have a favorable view of Biden, compared to 48% who view him negatively.
- Biden’s net favorability rating slipped by 6 points since April among women voters to 44% positive and 46% negative.
- Trump is viewed positively by 44% of voters and negatively by 53% of voters.
- Women voters polled support Biden over Trump by 8 points.
Morning Consult said it is the first time Biden has fallen "underwater" with women voters.
The Morning Consult surveyed 27,754 registered voters nationally between May 4-10. The poll has a 1 percentage point margin of error.
