Sen. Elizabeth Warren blasted President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general Friday, citing the history of racist claims about Sen. Jeff Sessions.

Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, released a statement via a series of Twitter posts:

Warren has been a fierce critic of Trump, first during his campaign and now as he holds the title of president-elect. She campaigned with Democrat Hillary Clinton and tried to convince voters to turn away from the real estate mogul, but the pair's efforts fell short when Clinton lost the election in the early hours of Nov. 9.

This week, she accused Trump of having "Wall Street elites" on his transition team, which has been holed up in Manhattan's Trump Tower as it chooses who will work in his administration.

Last week, however, Warren conceded Clinton's defeat in the race and pledged to work with Trump on the economy after he takes office on Jan. 20.

Warren is not alone in bringing up the racial allegations of Sessions' past, with some critics worried he could alter the civil rights landscape of the nation.
