Liberal Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Wednesday she could find common ground to work with Republican President-elect Donald Trump.

"It's no secret that I didn't want to see Donald Trump win yesterday," Warren told The Boston Globe. "But the integrity of our democracy is more important than any individual election, and those of us who supported Hillary Clinton will respect this result."

Warren acted as a campaign surrogate for the Democratic nominee, often harshly attacking Trump. She most recently responded to his "nasty woman" comment saying "nasty women" were going to march to the polls to vote him down.

But she struck a conciliatory tone after Trump's unexpected win.

"President-elect Trump promised to rebuild our economy for working people, and I offer to put aside our differences and work with him on that task," she said. "It is my sincere hope that he will fill that role with respect and concern for every single person in this country, no matter who they are, where they come from, what they believe, or whom they love."

Meanwhile, the state's Democratic Rep. Michael Capuano said "difficult days" are ahead, and that he would "try as hard as I can" to work with Trump and the Republican majorities in Congress.
