Former Attorney General Eric Holder said he would make a decision on whether he would run for president in 2020 "by the beginning of next year," The Hill reported Friday.
"I don't know. We'll see. I haven't decided yet," Holder told Viceland's "Desus & Mero" on Thursday when asked about his interest in running in the next presidential election.
"What I've said is, I'm going to decide by the beginning of next year and see if there is going to be another chapter in my public service career," he said.
Holder of late has been focusing his attention on reshaping Republican-drawn congressional district maps as chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. He maintained he wished he could change some of the policies currently taking place in the administration of President Donald Trump.
"Actually, you watch the news, and you want to be in it. Because I mean, I see what [Attorney General] Jeff Sessions is doing at the Justice Department — I'd like to be able to make sure that the things he's doing would not happen," he said.
A number of Democrats have expressed an interest in running for president in 2020, including former Vice President Joe Biden, as well as several current senators. Biden has suggested he would enter the race if he didn't think another Democrat could offer a viable challenge to Trump.
