Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has not yet provided information about the social media company's relationship with Russia and the 2016 election, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., said Thursday.

"I still don't think we have a full understanding what they did and how they weaponized Facebook," Swalwell said on CNN, The Washington Times reported.

Cambridge Analytica had siphoned data from around 50 million Facebook users as it built up an election consultant firm. The former head of firm, who has ties to the Trump campaign, then admitted to using that information for political reasons, the Times reported.

"Mark Zuckerberg is the right person to hear from, and he's someone we should hear from sooner rather than later," Swalwell told CNN.

In interviews Wednesday, Zuckerberg said he was willing to testify before Congress.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee said in a statement Thursday that Zuckerberg is "the right witness" to provide answers.
