Capitol Police Identify Slain Officer as 18-Year Veteran

The officer killed in a violent incident near the Capitol on Friday was William Evans, who has been on the force for 18 years, Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said in a statement.

Also killed was a man said to have rammed his car into a barricade near the Capitol, then approached the police while brandishing a knife.
