Edward Snowden, the NSA leaker who is currently living in exile in Russia, has reason to gloat over James Comey firing as FBI director, but took to Twitter to defend him instead.

Snowden did not elaborate, but he did retweet others who compared President Donald Trump's action to Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal and questioned the timing, since Comey's office was investigating Trump's election team's possible connections to Russia.

Snowden has been living in Russia since 2013 after he exposed thousands of secret documents related to government surveillance he obtained while working for a contractor to the National Security Agency. He faces prosecution for espionage if he returns to the United States.
