Two Republican lawmakers are calling on EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to resign amid allegations he committed ethics violations.
According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., and Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., both would like to see Pruitt step down.
Ros-Lehtinen's press secretary Keith Fernandez told the Examiner the congresswoman wants to see someone else lead the agency.
Curbelo aired his thoughts on Twitter, saying it is time for Pruitt to step aside or be fired:
Pruitt has come under fire because of an arrangement he had with the wife of an energy lobbyist last year. Pruitt rented a bedroom in a home owned by her and paid for nights he was there in person — at a rate of $50 per night. He paid roughly $6,000 during a six-month lease last year.
Questions have also been raised over Pruitt flying first class.
President Donald Trump reportedly told Pruitt on Monday the White House supports him and he should "keep fighting."
